Case Study: Honey’s Story

Agria Pet Insurance combines fast, easy claims settlement with flexible lifetime policies – always with a high level of veterinary fee cover – supporting pets, their owners and their vets.

Our cat claim this month demonstrates how costs for a relatively routine procedure can quickly add up, especially when emergency treatment is required.

Animal: Domestic shorthair

Sex: Female

Name: Honey

Age: 12 Years

Symptoms and diagnosis

Honey’s owners spotted a wound on her neck and immediately took her to her usual vet. The vet decided an operation was required to suture the wound; Honey was admitted, and discharged, later that day.

A few evenings later, Honey was showing signs of considerable pain around the wound and her owners were advised to see an out-of-hours vet who provided her with pain relief. When Honey was seen at her usual vets the following day, she was much more comfortable. The wound healed well, and a few days later Honey had the sutures removed.

The claim

Honey’s owners submitted a claim to cover the bill from her normal vets, and £218.76 was settled just one day later. We also settled £174.30 for the claim for the out-of-hours vet seven days after we received it.

The reassurance of veterinary help around the clock

Our policyholders know that with their policy, if their pet needs emergency out-of-hours veterinary care, we will step in to cover the cost*. This prevents owners from feeling they have to wait until the morning to see if their pet improves, allowing pets that are unwell or injured to get the right care, exactly when they need it.

*Non-emergency out-of-hours treatment is not covered.
