Symptoms and diagnosis

Whilst out on his walk, Chipper’s owners saw him receive a bite from an adder. They rushed him to his vet, by which time his leg had swollen up and he was vomiting. His was placed on intravenous fluids and treated with antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medication, as well as pain relief and anti-sickness medication.

By the evening his condition had improved and he was discharged with a dressing on his leg and instructions to return the following day for a check-up. At that appointment his dressing was removed, his wound cleaned and he was given some further antibiotics and sent home.

Later that day however, he vomited and his owners were advised to visit his vet out of hours. Discovering his wound had swollen up again, Chipper was admitted and treated with intravenous fluids, anti-sickness medication, and antibiotic and pain relief injections. He was also given a blood test. The results were good and he was finally discharged. He’s now feeling back to normal.

We settled £470.29 for Chipper’s treatment just two working days after the claim was received.
