Each month, we are giving you the opportunity to have your say on one of a range of topical issues. Last month, we asked you about your experience of owners’ attitudes towards planning for unexpected vet’s bills.
We asked “Do owners plan to protect their pet’s health?”:
- Always – owners are nervous of the risks and prepare for them.
- Usually – owners are aware illnesses can be expensive.
- Rarely – owners believe that large bills won’t affect them.
- Never – owners would rather pay their own vet bills.
We received a great response and the results were encouraging. The overwhelming majority of you, 65%, voted that yes, “Usually. New owners tend to either take out insurance or make an alternative plan for unexpected vet’s bills.”
The remaining votes were equally split between those who said that most new owners tend to hope for the best with no insurance, and the opposite – that most new owners do tend to take out insurance.
It’s great to hear that so many pet owners intend to get some pet insurance or other plan in place, which should ensure they get the veterinary help they need, when they need it.
Just take a look at our regular claims story and you will know that pet insurance has a very real value for pet owners. Next time a customer asks for your opinion on whether they should insure, let them know that you recommend they consider it very seriously.
Tell us what you think about …
British people are famous for their love of animals but is do we have a healthy balance or are we becoming obsessed? This month, we want to know how you view pets, and we’re asking: “Should pets be treated as animals or as part of the family?”
If there is a question you would like to see us ask, let us know. If other people share you view we’ll use it in future polls.
