Simon Wheeler 3Agria Pet Insurance Ltd announces the appointment of Simon Wheeler as Managing Director as of 17th May 2013.

An insurance specialist with significant expertise in the pet sector, Simon moves from his previous position as Head of Sales and Marketing for Agria. Prior to joining the company, Simon has worked extensively across the consumer insurance industry in a range of key roles.

Simon comments, “I am tremendously excited by the opportunity to steer Agria Pet Insurance through its next phase of development.”

“The business has had some real challenges in a tough marketplace, but with the experience and strength within the UK team, our important commercial partners and an increasingly sophisticated infrastructure, I believe the company is now positioned perfectly to drive the Agria brand forward and deliver the long term growth ambitions of staff and shareholder alike, and importantly, enable customers to enjoy the very best, long term healthcare provision for the pets in their families” he continues.

A true animal lover, Simon has owned a succession of dogs, horses and, keeping in touch with the small animal side of things, guinea pigs (courtesy of his daughter). As such, Simon’s approach blends compassion and understanding together with significant sector and business knowledge.

Øystein Berg, Managing Director of parent company Agria International, says, “We are delighted to appoint Simon as the new Managing Director of Agria’s UK operation. His success heading up the Sales and Marketing division, coupled with his years of experience in the pet insurance industry makes him the obvious choice to take the business forward.”

Both focus on innovative customer and pet-friendly policies, supported by outstanding customer service. For Agria, it’s essential that claims, service and sales staff are both highly professional and have a passion for animals – whether they’re veterinary trained, actively involved in breeding, showing or competing, or simply have a love of pets.

Agria is one of the world’s leading animal insurers, specialising in small animal, equine, avian, exotic and agricultural insurance products. The company is also one of the oldest and most established pet insurers in the world; insuring its first horse in 1890.
