Intrepid Agria fundraisers Lorraine Tannatt Nash and Elaine Vincent have once again Moon-Walked their way to raising over £1,100 for the breast cancer charity Walk the Walk.

This year the sparkly bra-clad Agria employees took part in not just one, but two midnight power-walking challenges together to raise money for the charity. The first, a 26.2 mile Full Moon marathon in London in May was followed by the toughest of challenges just a month later – the Over the Moon 52.4 mile double marathon in Edinburgh. Elaine also took part in the Sunwalk, which is a half marathon distance of 13.1 miles, in July.

This is Elaine’s fifth year of taking part in Walk the Walk, and Lorraine’s third, and the pair are already all set to join in the epic fundraising next year too.

“Over the Moon was undoubtedly the toughest challenge I have done but the support from the people of Edinburgh, fellow walkers and volunteers was incredible. Seeing Lorraine standing at the finish line on the Sunday afternoon ready to present my medal was very emotional and I can’t wait to be there next year to support her” says Elaine.

“Elaine completed the gruelling double marathon in 13 hours and 13 minutes.  It was a tremendous effort and no mean feat. Unfortunately after going over on my ankle at mile 29, whilst climbing Arthur’s Seat for the second time, I eventually had to retire just before the 36 mile point. But the challenge can’t and won’t defeat me – I will be back next year!” says Lorraine.

Since the charity’s first walk 16 years ago, Walk the Walk has raised £83 million which is used to provide grants for breast cancer projects and campaigns that may otherwise struggle for funding. These include extensive research projects, patient support services, and funding for scalp cooling machines – designed to help women undergoing chemotherapy keep their hair.

The team at Agria is well known for extensive charity work, and Lorraine is now all set to raise even more money this September. She’s part of one of two Agria cycling teams heading to France for the Extra Mile Vosges Challenge – a 500 mile cycle event Agria’s entered to raise money for Dogs for the Disabled and other worthy causes.
