Head of IT Operations

Colin Aitken

Meet Colin Aitken, our Head of IT Operations

I joined Agria in November 2025.

What does your job role involve?

My role involves managing IT Service Delivery to make sure our colleagues across the business can perform their roles to the fullest and with minimal interruption and managing the response where issues happen.

It also means making sure our services and suppliers are producing predictable results in line with agreed service levels and standards and very importantly, keeping our systems and data secure – managing risks to protect the business.

I get to work with a great team across the IT department and the entire organisation.

We are constantly learning, and challenging ourselves to find better, faster or more cost-effective solutions.

Why did you choose Agria?

I was initially attracted by the role and the organisation’s commitment to animal welfare and the environment, and the fact Agria successful and growing.

During the selection process, I was further drawn in by the people. I felt a strong personal connection, culture fit and sense of belonging.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and if you own any pets.

Despite being born in Scotland, I have lived in the Aylesbury area for the past 20 years.

I’m married with one child and another on the way.

In my spare time, I enjoy golf and running and have run over 70 marathons including Chicago, Detroit and Amsterdam.

We have two cats – Suzy and Skittles, who couldn’t have more different personalities.

Suzy is the quiet one and can normally be found in her usual hiding place (under the bed!) whereas Skittles seizes every opportunity for food and affection by welcoming us home or generally accompanying us in whatever we’re doing, whether it be DIY or playing in the garden.
