For dog, cats and rabbits, the service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Including bank holidays. For horses, we are not able to provide advice for 24 hours a day and this may occasionally result in a longer waiting time. We will continuously monitor the demand and make more consultations available as the demand is increasing.

The service is available for advice on general conditions affecting dogs, cats, rabbits and horses. If you think that your pet needs urgent veterinary treatment, then you should go to a veterinary clinic as soon as possible. If you feel unsure about how acutely ill your animal is, then our experienced vets can provide triage to assess how quickly you should seek help from a physical veterinarian.

You can book an appointment as little as 10 minutes before the appointment starts, as long as the appointment is available.

You are able to book an appointment as long as 4 weeks in advance. 

No, the service is free to use for all pets that hold an active insurance policy with Agria Pet Insurance.

Yes, anyone who cares for a dog, cat, rabbit or horse who is insured with Agria Pet Insurance can use this service.

Yes, all our vets are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and they have a minimum of 5 years of practice experience. Our vets also perform regular work in clinical practice.

No, our vets are not able to provide a specific diagnosis as this requires a physical examination. Our veterinarians can give you generic advice and help you with triage so you know when to visit a physical veterinarian. 

No, to provide prescriptions your pet must have a physical examination by a veterinary surgeon. We recommend that you contact your preferred veterinary surgery for this service.

Yes, when you book the appointment, you are asked to provide a history of the signs/symptoms. You can also upload pictures and short video clips.

The appointment is up to 10 minutes long. If more time is needed, then a follow-up appointment may be advised.

Yes, if your pet needs to see a 'physical' vet then we always encourage you to use your preferred veterinary surgery.

No, our vets do not have access to the clinical history from your local veterinary surgery. However, our vets can see any history notes from previous appointments with Agria Vet Guide.

No, the service is currently only available for pets that hold an active insurance policy with Agria Pet Insurance.

Advice regarding a visit to a veterinary clinic will be given based on what is considered best for your pet at the time. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that the specific condition is covered by your policy. Agria Vet Guide aims to provide a very high standard of veterinary advice for every species. This is why only experienced small animal vets provide consultations on small animals and likewise with regards to horses. Therefore, as the demand for horse consultations is relatively low during the upstart of the service, we are not able to provide advice for horses 24 hours a day and this may occasionally result in a longer waiting time. We will continuously monitor the demand and make more consultations available as the demand is increasing. 

This service is completely optional and offered free of charge to customers who feel that they may benefit from the veterinary advice provided. Your policy is not affected by the use of this service.
