Ruby Hughes

Growing up at Hughes Dressage in Warwickshire, Ruby Hughes has been surrounded by horses from an early age. The daughter of international dressage riders Gareth and Rebecca Hughes, she began her competitive career in vaulting before establishing herself as one of Britain’s most exciting young dressage riders.

Ruby represented Great Britain in vaulting at the 2019 European Championships before making her international dressage debut in 2021. That same year, aged just 13, she was selected for her first FEI Pony European Championships with Hilkens Showgirl, returning to represent Britain at pony level again in 2022.

Her move onto horses brought further success. In 2023, Ruby and Classic Goldstrike helped Great Britain win team bronze at the FEI European Junior Championships. She returned to the Junior Europeans with Brioso in 2024, marking her fourth consecutive year representing Britain at a dressage European Championship.

Ruby stepped up to Young Rider level in 2026 with Mount St John Jazz Dance, recording international wins before representing Great Britain at the FEI European Young Rider Championships. The same year, she made an impressive move into the senior Grand Prix ranks with Farrell, winning on their Under-25 Grand Prix debut and later finishing fourth in the Grand Prix at the British Dressage National Championships.
