Common Health Problems for Boxers
Boxers are at risk of health problems, however there's a good chance your dog will live a long and high-quality life.

Cancer
Boxers are prone to developing mast cell tumours and sarcomas, which you may see or feel on their body. Many experts suggest Boxer dogs are almost three times more likely to require tumour treatment than other breeds. Brain and mast cell tumours are among the most common types of tumours affecting this breed. They can also grow cysts, warts, and non-cancerous lumps, which can usually be treated with surgery.

Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS)
As Boxer dogs have shorter faces, they can often develop severe breathing issues. Common symptoms include loud breathing and tiredness as they cannot breathe in enough oxygen. Typically, BOAS affects Boxers between one and three years old however it can also be developed at a younger age. Unfortunately, this problem is common for this breed and can often result in the dog fainting or collapsing, especially in hot weather.

Boxers are at risk of life-threatening heart problems such as Boxer Cardiomyopathy, which can result in weakness or sudden cardiac death. Unfortunately, as the root cause of this problem is unknown, treatment can improve the symptoms but can't provide a solution.

Boxer dogs experience various musculoskeletal issues, including ruptures in the knee joint and hip dysplasia. To help with these problems, it is vital to keep your Boxer at a healthy weight and limit activities that place more significant pressure on the joints, such as ball fetching. Additionally, joint supplements can help slow down the development of these problems.
Health tips for your Boxer dog
Exercise
Boxers require at least two hours of daily exercise as they are one of the most active dog breeds. Make sure you include a mix of reward-based activities as your dog will love playing, and this will reduce the desire for them to jump up on other dogs. However, you must ensure you don't overdo it when the weather is warmer, as Boxers can have issues with breathing due to the shape of their head. Additionally, Boxers dogs can suffer from heatstroke, which can be deadly if exercised too much in hot weather. For this reason, it's often recommended to spread exercise throughout the day so they have enough rest time.
Feeding
Boxers typically have a high level of activity and will require high-quality food. A mix of wet and dry food and crunchy biscuits to maintain dental health is often recommended. It's essential to be aware that you should not feed your Boxer dog right before exercise to lower the chance of gastric issues. The amount of food required depends on their age, size, and exercise habits.
